Head Coaches

Sarah Miller

This is Sarah's 6th year coaching for Western Buckeye and her 4th as the Club Director.  She is very excited to part of such a wonderful program and loves seeing all the girls grow as players.  She was the Springboro Freshman Volleyball coach for the 2012-2013 season where she took her girls to an undefeated season and to win the GWOC tournament.  Sarah started playing volleyball in 7th grade and has loved it ever since.  She was a 3 year Varsity Letterman at East Clinton High School. Prior to coaching with Western Buckeye she had previously coached for Matchpoint Volleyball Club.  Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, husband Bill and 2 step-children Billbill and Kiarra.  Sarah is glad to have Bill helping her again this year with the Western Buckeye club as Co-Director and Coach.

Pam Zavakos

This is Pam's 3rd year coaching for Western Buckeye but she has an extensive coaching career that spans over three decades.  She has coached both boys and girls from the grade school to the high school level. She has coached at Saint Columbian in Cincinnati, Chaminade Julienne in Dayton, Bishop Chatard in Indianapolis and CYO programs at Saint Chris in Vandalia, Holy Angels in Dayton and Saint Pius X in Indy. She has started a boy's CYO program in Indianapolis and coached several teams to City championships. Pam is also an OHSAA Level 1 Official for volleyball and enjoys that aspect of volleyball as well as it helps her with her coaching. Pam is a mother of three wonderful boys, Brad, Zach and Alex who all love the sport and a supportive husband Ted who enjoys the sport as much as the rest. Pam is looking forward to teaching great fundamental volleyball skills to the Western Buckeye players she coaches.

Roy Felts

We are very excited to have Roy join the coaching staff this year.  He comes to us with years of playing experience as well as coaching. Roy grew up in Southern California and played beach volleyball for nearly 30 years there, in Hawaii, and Colorado.  After assisting volleyball great Pat Powers’ in his annual volleyball skills clinics/camps, he caught the coaching bug.   Roy has coached volleyball the past 8 years including rec and club teams in Colorado as well as the Coffman YMCA. For the past 3 years, Roy has coached 7th grade volleyball at Miamisburg and Springboro, his teams compiling a 51-8 overall record with 3 playoff appearances, 2 GWOC finals appearances, and one GWOC championship.  Roy is a publisher of medical magazines by trade and loves to spend time with his wife, Anne, and two daughters, Carrie and Kate (who is also now a WB family member). We are so excited to have Roy join our family this season.

 Zach Zavakos

Western Buckeye is excited to have Zach join our coaching staff this year.  Zach just graduated from Bluffton University with a business degree, where he also played NCAA D3 college football. He is currently back in school learning Software Development and Software Engineering. Zach has been playing volleyball since the 4th grade. He played throughout high school and played on 2 different clubs. 1 was a national level that went to back to back national tournaments where we placed 4th in 2009 and then 17th in 2010. He then played on Air City Boys for a regional team my last 2 years of high school. When  playing he was a outside hitter, DS, and Libero.  Zach has a very strong knowledge of high level play and how to be an effective hitter from all spots. He also, has a great knowledge of coverage and the ways to properly cover hits from all areas. Zach is excited to follow in his mothers footsteps and coach for many more years to come.  Zach loves the game of volleyball and Western Buckeye is delighted to have him as part of our team.

While serving in the United States Air Force Leo played on many of our base volleyball teams and also any adult leagues running in the area. While in the service he would spend anywhere from four to ten hours a day playing the sport he loves, volleyball. Leo is currently the middle school volleyball coach for Wayne Middle School in Huber Heights. He has also coached at Bethel Middle School.
